A very handsome character figurine of a young "newsie" by Royal Doulton, designed by M. Nicoll. Issued ONLY in 1990 in a Limited Edition of 1500. MADE IN ENGLAND. Signed by the artist. "Old Ben" measures 8 1/2 inches high. His colors are green, brown and blue.

OLD BEN was an institution set up in London in 1838 to help the poor newsvendors in London. CHARLES DICKENS was an early and staunch supporter and was president from 1854 until his death in 1870.
